It is very clear that people still miss the late Whitney Houston and the sensational Miss Belinda Davids helps to fill that gap by paying the ultimate homage to the star.
Miss Davids is a true talent in her own right, and this tribute show, at a packed Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, showcased her vocal capabilities in a roof raising manner.
Belinda has perfected Houston’s mannerisms and took us through Whitney’s songbook with ease. With the National Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Matthew Freeman behind her, the atmosphere in the room was electric. From the opening I‘m Every Woman Davids was on a mission to entertain in her own, very polished way. Highlights included Didn’t We Almost Have it All and One Moment in Timeproving that she is more than just a mimic with her own brilliant phrasing.
This impressive show features several costume changes and footage of Houston all brought together with excellent attention to detail. Belinda Davids is now on a national tour with dates into October and November. The whole night was exhilarating and had the audience in raptures, and to quote one of the classic’s, it was So Emotional.
